This Day in 1962

Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane dies at the age of 59 in Illinois.  Cochrane batted .320 in 13 seasons and played in five World Series.  His career was cut short by a pitch that fractured his skull in 1937.  He also won two pennants and one World Championship as manager of the Tigers.
